why my Philips SpO2 sensor not working?

many new engineers will ask.

ok. let us check it out.

1, modules

As a time-honored brand, Philips has got different modules for its SpO2 sector.

a) Philips Fast SpO2 technology.

this is the most common Philips SpO2 technology used in many machines, even in the HP machines.

the connector is typical 8 pins

b) Masimo technology

Philips is using Masimo modules for a long time.

older models use a Masimo sensor without SET technology

the connector is simple and a little different than the FAST technology

later Philips uses Masimo SET technology so the pinout changes a little

also now, Philips has a new connector with Masimo SET module

c)

Nellcor Oximax module

some Philips modules is with Oximax sensors

for Nellcor module, the appearance is same, but there is purple circle around the female port part

2, sensor defective

if the light is there, usually the problem from the photodetector, you have to replace the sensor

if you the light is not there, the problem usually in the emitter, you have to replace the sensor

usually the sensor breaks in the wires, sensor tip part of the connector tail part, because long time bending the inner conductor broken.
